Invisible braces are growing in popularity in the UK as a more aesthetically pleasing alternative to the traditional ‘train track’ braces. The most popular systems include Invisalign and Clearstep.

Invisible braces: Am I suitable?

A thorough consultation with your dentist will confirm if you are suitable for invisible braces. They can be used to correct dental problems such as overcrowding, wide spacing, crossbites, overbites and underbites.

Invisible braces: Am I suitable?

A thorough consultation with your dentist will confirm if you are suitable for invisible braces. They can be used to correct dental problems such as overcrowding, wide spacing, crossbites, overbites and underbites.

Invisible braces: What’s the treatment like?

Once your dentist confirms that the problem can be corrected with invisible braces, you will be provided with a number of aligners and a treatment plan that outlines exactly what you should do. The individual aligners are worn for approximately two weeks at a time before you graduate onto the next size and by this process they gently move your teeth into position.

The aligners are removed when you wish to eat, drink and brush your teeth and for special occasions. Results start to appear quite quickly and the process can take as little as four months or as much as two years depending on how much correction is necessary.

Invisible braces: What about after?

Teeth and jaw structures continue to change over time and invisible braces do not stop this process. It may be necessary to wear a retainer after treatment to maintain results.

Invisible braces: Are there any risks or side effects?

Risks are very rare with this treatment but it can possibly have a negative impact on your tooth vitality and cause root resorption, nerve damage and tooth decay.

Invisible braces: What will it cost me?

Treatment fees are set by your dentist but the average cost ranges from £2,500 to £4,000
