Laser lipo uses laser energy to remove fat and represents a viable alternative to the traditional liposuction. It can treat all the areas that liposuction targets – the chin, jaw line, upper arms, buttocks, hips, tummy, knees, inner and outer thighs and male breasts – but it is carried out under local anaesthetic and has minimal downtime.
Laser lipo: Am I suitable?
Suitable candidates for Laser Lipo are patients who want to get rid of small pockets of fat that just won’t shift through diet and exercise.
Your consultation with your practitioner will determine whether this procedure will give you the results you are expecting. Also a full medical history will be taken to check whether you’re physically able to undergo the procedure.
Laser lipo: What’s the treatment like?
Laser Lipo is a laser lipolysis procedure which means a fine cannula is used to deliver a powerful, but safe dose of laser energy into the fat cells. This heats them to 45 degrees, causing them to break down. The fat cells are then absorbed by the body and pass out through the lymphatic system over the next couple of months. However, many practitioners combine SmartLipo with aspiration – this is a process of gentle suction which removes some of the liquefied fat, giving a more immediate effect.
Although this is a relatively painless procedure, a local anaesthetic can be applied to the treatment area to ensure there is no discomfort.
Laser lipo: What about after?
Laser Lipo is often described as a lunchtime procedure as you can resume normal activities immediately after.
Laser lipo: Are there any risks or side effects?
Laser Lipo is a very safe procedure because it just targets the fat cells and does little damage to the surrounding muscle or nerve tissue.
Laser lipo: What will it cost me?
Can cost £1,500 to £2,000 per treatment.
