Ulthera

Ulthera is a non-invasive procedure that utilises ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin on the face. It can be used to lift the brow, reduce drooping on the eyelids, smooth crow’s feet, tighten skin on the face, thereby lessening folds from the nose to mouth or mouth to jaw, and improve the contours of the jaw line.

Am I suitable?

Ulthera is safe for use on all skin types. It is suitable for men or women who have experienced some sagging of their skin. If sagging is severe then you may need a couple of treatments or might benefit from a more invasive procedure. Your practitioner will be able to evaluate your suitability.

What do I have to do to prepare?

There is no preparation necessary for this treatment.

What’s the treatment like?

A smooth applicator is placed upon your skin and this projects an image onto a screen. This same applicator is then used to deliver low levels of focused heat at just the right depth below the skin to achieve a positive effect, without damaging the surface of the skin.

Ulthera is a comfortable procedure and no local anaesthetic is needed. Patients report a prickling or warm sensation beneath the skin. The treatment lasts up to an hour.

What about after?

There may be a minimal amount of redness after treatment but this is only temporary and can be covered with mineral make-up if required. There may be some immediate lift, but the full effect is gradual as collagen production is stimulated.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Ultrasound energy has been used for over 50 years for scans and this treatment is very safe.

What will it cost me?

Ulthera; this costs from £300 and upwards depending on what degree of tightening is necessary and how many areas are treated. Your skin will continue to age and top-up treatments might be necessary in the future.
