Fat removal is becoming big business in the aesthetics world and there are a number of systems, utilising different forms of energy, that aim to remove the fat and sculpt the body into the desired shape.
VASER Lipo is ultrasound-assisted liposelection and it is termed liposelection rather than liposuction because it promises to isolate and remove just the fat cells, without damaging the surrounding tissue.
The manufacturers behind VASER have also developed VASER Hi-Def which allows the practitioner to remove fat even closer to the muscles. This has taken body sculpting to a whole new level in that it can even give patients that elusive six pack.
VASER Lipo: Am I suitable?
VASER is suitable for most men and women who are interested in having fat removed. It can target any part of the body, including the inner and outer thighs, lower back, abdomen, buttocks, knees, chin and neck, arms and calves.
This treatment is aimed at stubborn pockets of fat that just won’t shift. It is not a weight loss procedure and it will not target cellulite. Good skin elasticity is also important as it won’t tighten sagging skin.
VASER Lipo: What do I have to do to prepare?
There is no preparation necessary for this treatment.
VASER Lipo: What’s the treatment like?
VASER is a lot less painful and traumatic than liposuction. Fluid is infused into the target area and then a small probe is inserted that delivers low level ultrasonic vibrations which emulsifies the fatty tissue. As the fat is in a liquid form it means that it can be removed much more easily with a suction device. Any remaining emulsified fat will just be excreted by the body.
VASER Lipo has been shown to have 53% better skin tightening than traditional liposuction
VASER Lipo: What about after?
There is much less discomfort after the treatment than with liposuction. The patient will be advised to wear a compression garment for a couple of weeks which will help with the bruising and swelling. Vigorous activities can be resumed after two weeks.
VASER produces instant results but they continue to improve over the following six months as the body heals and the skin retracts.
VASER Lipo: Are there any risks or side effects?
This is a relatively safe procedure, but there are some risks. These mainly relate to the skill of the practitioner and include the potential of skin dimpling or lumpiness, the appearance of ‘baggy skin’ if too much fat is removed or asymmetry if more fat is removed from one area than another.
VASER Lipo: What will it cost me?
Treatment usually starts from £2,000 per area.
